Born in Australia, raised and educated in Tokyo and in New York, Minako received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design.  She lives in Brooklyn and works in Ridgewood, NY.

Minako Iwamura's current work explores observations from nature, utilizing mathematical patterns, to evoke the elevated sense of wonder nature gives, in forms hovering over representation and abstraction.  She is interested in dualities - the coexistence of nature and geometry, art and math/science, singular and the collective, premeditated delineation and organic formation.  Through these, she celebrates the untethered.
